What a poem. Plath's poetry is usually dark and bleak. One can tell with the title of this poem..about cadavers...that it is not going to be cheery. I wonder if she visited a medical school and saw the med students working on cadavers? Perhaps she's reflecting on the irony of the once vibrant lives now stilled and in the hands of students? That's what struck me. Her writing can be really hard to pick apart since a lot of her poems seem  very erratic. In my experience with her poetry, she does not paint a rosy picture of life, and often reading them is like trying to solve a mystery.
