Entry one:
I am reading Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper. I chose this book because the story line interested me, the Prince and the Pauper switch places, then everything gets messed up, that's all I know so far.
THis summer I read the Pretty Little Liars series up to the last book, then I got hooked on the t.v. show. When I quit those books, i started reading a book called Emotions Revealed, a psychology book to help people understand and know what other people's emotions are. I haven't finished that book yet, but I am about halfway through!
Entry two:
Ok so, how to begin. I am reading Prince and the Pauper, and I really don't like it. The style is very very old fashioned and i dislike it, I'm a person that loves newer books. But i'lll give it a chance! So far i have read to page 27, 5 chapters. One chracter i will focus on is Tom Canty, aka the Pauper. He was raised in a very poor setting, while another baby, Edward Tudor was celebrated. Tom read about the life of a prince, and dreamt about it in his sleep. He wandered the streets looking for food, dressed in rags, and stumbles upon the palace. From there, I really have a problem understanding the old-fashioned English... I guess i text too much :) ... But what i got from it was that he met the prince and they start talking about Tom's grammar and how he was tought and things like that. They somehow switch outfits and realize that they look exactly alike, the same hair, same eyes, and same height and face. THey switched places, Tom became the Prince ofWales and the prince became the Pauper. Edward becomes lost in the city of London. THis is where the fifth chapter ends.

So far, I have read pages 28-46, chapters 4-9. The quote I found was a long one.
"I pray thee of thy Grace believe me, I did but speak the truth, most dread lord,
for I am the meanest among thy subjects, being a pauper born,
and 'tis by a sore mischance and accident I am here, albiet I was therein nothing blameful.
I am but young to die, and thou canst save me with one little word.."
This quote is said by Tom Canty while acting as he Prince.Tom was expecting to recieve punishment, but then the King treated him with love. I think the significance of this quote is that the Pauper is trying to admit to the king that he is not the Prince and the king is thinking he is a silly young boy with an imagination.

Today is Septmeber 17th and i have read from 47 to73 in the Prince and the Pauper.I didn't really make any predictions ealier or before i started the book, I'm not that type of reader. But I do enjoy surprises that the author brings upon. Now Tom is acting like the prince he's always wanted to be. I feel like Tom is feeling bad for the prisoners being sent to death, almost feeling like he knows what their lives are/were like. THat's alll I've noticed about Tom other than you can tell he's happy being off the streets and living his dream. I am not happy with this book, just because I'm a new-age reader, but oh well :) .... I've noticed this story line is very VERY similar to that of the new t.v. show on ABC Family called The Lying Game, my new favorite show! I's about twins that were sperated at birthbut then reunite and one twin takes over the life of the other while the other twin goes out and searches for their birthmother, who has been in the same town as them since they were born, it's very interesting.

Summary:
The sum of this book is that the look-a-likes switch lives. Tom adjusts better to his new life than Edward does, going from living in a castle to living on the streets wearing rags. Another thing is how people treat other people based on how they look and what they wear. No one would have known that Edward was a prince when he was wearing rags for clothes. They treated him with disrespect.
Rating:
I give this book a 2 rating, just because I didn't really enjoy reading it, but it has a good message.
